Safe Exchange Zone
Safe Exchange Zone
In a proactive effort to safeguard our community, the Brownsville Police Department announces our new Safe Exchange Zones. These safe zones are located in the main parking lot of our Administrative Building (600 E. Jackson St.) and our East Brownsville Police Station (2900 Southmost Blvd.). The Safe Exchange Zones offer residents a safe atmosphere to conduct child custody exchanges, trade legal items, or to safely purchase items found on social media sites such as Facebook, Craigslist, LetGo, etc. The two designated Safety Exchange Zones at each station are under 24 hour video surveillance.
When using the Safe Exchange Zones please be aware of the following:
Police will not be screening the transactions, but are available if an emergency arises.
Brownsville Police or City of Brownsville personnel will not be present or assist with any transactions.
All trades conducted in the Safe Exchange Zone are monitored by video recordings.
The Safe Exchange Zone is meant for person to person transactions. Property may not be left unattended.
Sellers are required to take their property with them if the buyer does not show up.
If at any time you feel unsafe or an emergency arises, please contact police either in person or call 911.
