ARRESTED: Aggravated Robbery and Possession of a Controlled Substance

On 02/27/2019, Brownsville Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of E. Washington St. in reference to an aggravated robbery. Officers made contact with the victim who advised that the suspect displayed a knife and took the victim’s wallet. After the victim provided a description of the suspect and his last direction of travel, Officers spotted the suspect in the area getting into a taxi. The suspect got off of the taxi in the area of South Frontage Rd. and International Blvd., where Officers and Brownsville Police Detectives continued searching the area for the suspect. The suspect, identified as Joey Perez, was located at the 1900 block of Ringgold St. The victim identified Perez as the suspect in the commission of this crime and the victim’s property was recovered from Perez’s person. Perez was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine - 1.5 grams). Perez was arrested and booked in accordingly.
