ARRESTED: Aggravated Robbery and Failure to Identify

On November 6, 2019, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Brownsville Police Department responded to a call for service in the area of E. 14th Street and E. Jefferson St. in reference to a female lying in the middle of the road. On arrival, Officers provided assistance to a 58 year old female who they located lying on the ground by a motorized wheel chair. The female advised officers that a male subject pushed her off her wheel chair and took her purse without her consent. The victim sustained bodily injury during the incident. After officers obtained a description of the suspect and a direction of travel, officers located and detained a subject in the area on the 900 block of E. 13th St. matching the suspect description. The subject, later identified as Rafael Carrasco (30), was found with the victim’s property in his possession. Carrasco who refused to provide officers his name or date of birth, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Failure to Identify. The victim's property was recovered and returned to the owner. Carrasco's bond was set at $50,000.
