ARRESTED: Cruelty to a Nonlivestock Animal

On July 10, 2019, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the Brownsville Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Impala Dr. in reference to an investigation of suspected animal cruelty. On arrival, officers found a deceased female Pit Bull canine hanging from a chain link fence. Detectives interviewed the caretaker for the canine, Veronica Garcia, who informed Detectives of previous incidents where the canine would jump over to an adjacent property. Through further investigation, Detectives determined that Garcia had failed to provide necessary care and shelter for the canine in her custody. On July 11, 2019, Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Veronica Garcia (31) and she was placed under arrest for Cruelty to a Nonlivestock Animal. Garcia was transported to city jail where she was booked in accordingly.
