Brownsville Police Officers responded to the 700 block of E Alton Gloor Blvd in reference to a call of an Aggravated Robbery in progress. Male subject displayed a handgun to the clerk. Officers arrived while suspect was still inside. Officers went inside and confronted the suspect by the pharmacy area. Gunfire was exchanged and one of the responding officers and the suspect were injured. Officer was shot in the left leg and the suspect in the abdomen. Both were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The Officer is in stable condition and the suspect was going into surgery as of this morning. No other injuries reported. The Texas Rangers were on scene and will be conducting the investigation. Case remains under investigation.
