Victim: Abel Michael Rose (19) & Passenger (22)

Suspect: Samuel Trejo Jr. (25)(NO PICTURE AVAILABLE)

On June 13, 2018, at approx. 1:30 am, Officers responded to the 800 block of Boca Chica Boulevard in regards to a major accident involving 2 vehicles and a fatality. Upon arrival, Officers observed a white Chevy Malibu with front end damage and a Brown Pontiac G6 with rear end damage. It appeared the Malibu struck the Pontiac from behind. Witnesses advised that the Pontiac was stopped at the light on Boca Chica Blvd and Coria when the Malibu struck the Pontiac. The driver of the White Chevy Malibu was identified as Samuel Trejo Jr. and transported to Valley Baptist with injuries to his hip and knee. The driver of the Brown Pontiac G6 was pronounced dead on scene and was identified as Abel Michael Rose. The passenger, 22 year old male, was transported to Valley Baptist with head injuries and broken arm. An autopsy for the deceased was ordered. It is alleged that the Malibu was possibly racing with a silver Nissan titan pickup, but it has yet to be confirmed. Trejo was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault pending arraignment. Case remains under investigation.
