Homicide: 400 block of Jose Marti Blvd

Brownsville Police Detectives are currently investigating a homicide that was reported yesterday evening. On May 14, 2017 at approximately 08:45pm, Officers were called out to the 400 block of Jose Marti Blvd in reference to a welfare concern call. Upon arriving at location Officers found an elderly female deceased on the floor. It was learned that the victim (a 69 year old female identified as Hilda Cantellano) was a home health provider for an elderly female who lives at the location. The female who called the police was the victim's sister. She stated that her son went to check on the victim after she did not arrive home from work and found the victim deceased. The female resident, who is bed ridden, was interviewed on scene and later transported to VRMC by E.M.S. Autopsy was requested by JP Soroloa to determine the exact cause of death. Case is active pending further investigation.
